Our Heritage
A legacy of weaving dreams in the valley of Kashmir.
Our Story
Rooted in the breathtaking valleys of Kashmir, Bhat Shawls was born out of a profound respect for the timeless art of traditional hand-weaving. For generations, our ancestors have carefully passed down the intricate techniques required to transform raw, ethereal fleece into garments of unparalleled luxury and warmth.
We started as a small family of artisans, driven by the desire to share the authentic Kashmiri shawl with the world. Today, we work directly with hundreds of local weavers, embroiderers, and craftsmen, ensuring that their incredible talent is celebrated globally while sustaining their livelihoods.
The Art of Pashmina
True Pashmina is not just a fabric; it is an experience. It begins in the high altitudes of the Himalayas, where the Changthangi goat sheds its ultra-fine winter coat. This delicate fiber is painstakingly gathered, spun by hand on traditional charkhas, and woven on wooden handlooms.
But the magic truly happens during the embellishment process. Our master embroiderers spend months—sometimes years—adorning a single shawl with traditional Sozni (needlework) or Papier-Mâché embroidery. Every piece at Bhat Shawls is a unique masterpiece, bearing the invisible signature of the artisan who poured their soul into creating it.
